Spam protection

Every PackWeb site uses layered spam protection on contact forms and comment fields. The aim is to filter out the bots without making real customers jump through hoops.

How it works

  • Hidden honeypot fields that real people don't see but bots fill in. Anything that fills the honeypot is silently dropped.
  • Behavioural checks that look at how the form was submitted (timing, focus events) to spot scripted submissions.
  • Server-side filtering against known spam patterns and blocklists.
  • Optional human-friendly challenges if a particular form is getting hammered. These are picture-based, not the old typed-distorted-text style.

Real customers see a normal form. Bots get filtered out before the message reaches your inbox.

If a particular site is getting more spam than expected we'll tune the filtering for you, that's included in the hosting plan.
